In a bid to contribute to the academic improvements of the Secondary School Students in Remo Land, a popular Non Governmental Organization (NGO) based in Sagamu Local Government, area of Remo, Ogun State, Yettycherry Initiatives, has been holding an annual Spelling Bee Competitions, Maths Competitions, Quiz and Debate Competitions for Secondary Schools across the three local government that made up Remo Land.

Speaking at this year’s annual project tagged: “2023 Yettycherry Initiatives Spelling Bee Competitions for JSS 2 & SSS 2 Students & Participants School in Remo Land” held on Wednesday, 24th May, 2023, at Ewusi Palace Hall, Makun Sagamu, Ogun State, the Founder & CEO of Yettycherry Initiatives, Mrs. Yetunde Lawani, noted that the Team is carrying out the annual Yettycherry Initiatives project as a way of investing in academic development of the younger generation, urged the students to be of good behaviour and take the competitions seriously, as it enhances their performances in their academic growth, while she also thanked all the notable guests, contributors, personalities, and other dignitaries in attendance, for gracing this year’s edition, adding that their presence adds impetus to the competition.

The event which had in attendance: Mr. Soile, Mr. Segun Dada, Amb. Kamal Mopelola, Comr. Stephen Olokodana, Mrs. Dolapo Banwo, Comr. Babatope, Comr. Stephen Adeleye, amongst many other dignitaries.

The event which have more than 20 Schools across Remo Land as participants, also have in attendance several secondary school students from Ogijo, Sagamu, Likosi, Ikenne, Ilisan, Ode Remo, Isara, Iperu, Ogere, and other towns across Remo Land, including private and public secondary schools.

Speaking at the event, the Committee Chairman for 2023 Yettycherry Initiatives Spelling Bee, Mr. Soile, while speaking on the speech “The Importance Of Education”, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the competition since its inception, pointing out that the initiative has become a confidence booster for many students as well as a platform to help the youth showcase their potential.

In addition, Mr. Segun Dada, the CEO of Idea Center, while addressing the audience on differences between being Beautiful and Attractive, also uses the medium to engaged the students on some questions with several cash rewards and gifts items for Students that got the best answers.

Highpoint of the event was the pronouncement and presentation of gifts to the overall champion of the competition, as well as photo session with other winners, as Awonuga Abdulazeez emerged the winner of the junior school category and Tailorson Chukwuma emerged the winner of the senior school category, with each scoring 20 points respectively to claimed the victory.

The runners up also received assorted consolation prizes, as Ogunnubi Taiwo from the junior school category emerged the second position with 15 points while Osinowo Kehinde won the third prize with 19 points from the senior school category. Also, Stewenson Emmanuel emerged the second runner-up with 10 points from the junior school category and Okesanya Pricilia won the third position from the senior school category with 15 points.
