On Friday, September 16th 2022, the delegations of Youth leaders across the three local government in Remo Land, was on a familiarization visit to the Acting Rector of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Sapaade, Mr. TK Ogunyinka. The Acting Rector, Mr. Ogunyinka, who received the whole delegations team in his office, gave audience to the HOD of the Department Of Food Technology, of the Institution, who also doubled as the State Vice Chairman 1 (Ogun East) of the National Youth Council Of Nigeria (NYCN) Ogun State Chapter, Comr. Dotun Opaleye (a.k.a ZAMORA) to introduce the visiting Youth’s delegations.

The acting Rector first expressed gratitude for the privilege of such a courtesy visit and went ahead to gave his introductory address on the development of the Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Sapaade, since he rose to the office of the acting Rector, were he also reiterated the developmental, academically, welfarism and capacity building of how the school was before and how it is progressing now.

In a statement made available to newsmen at Genesis Media House, the acting Rector noted that he and the other managements of the school were working tirelessly and persistently to surpass the standard legacy set up by the immediate past Rector, Dr I.K. Oyeyinka, to makes the Institution great, and becomes the best institution in Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.

While seeking for the support and partnership of the visiting Youths for projects ahead which he tagged “PROJECT SAAPADE” in converting the Institution to University Of Technology, Ogunyinka also narrated some constituted programs by the managements to ease the students welfare and developmental values to the institution, were he listed programs like; Student Welfare Support, Staff Soft Loans, Media Publicity, Research And Developmental Unit Committee and many more.

In response, the Chairman, Remo Youth Association – RYA, Comr. Yaya Onagbesan thanked the Rector for his prompt host to the Youths and also appreciates him for all the well developmental job done so far in the Institution, while also assured that Remo Youths will render all the necessary support needed by and heed to all the requests made by the institution.

Comr. Oluwole Aduroja; the Acting Coordinator, NYCN Sagamu Branch, in his speech advised the rector to always roll out programmes that will sensitise GAPOSA students against joining Cultism and other social vices while he also urge the managements to embarke on more building projects like Staff quarters, student hostel and many more, noting that the school still have enough space that can contains all the buildings.

While speaking, Comr. Olokodana; the NYCN Remo North Coordinator, lobby the Rector to absolve more indigenes into the academic and non-academic staff, establishing that competent and qualified sons and daughters of the soil are hoping to work at GAPOSA – who will be willing to give back into the system beyond their cores. He also added that a cultural and arts department can be introduced into the institution with the support of culture ambassador from Remo land to broaden the capacity of the institution. He also assured the Rector that the host communities will always accommodate the school expansion with generous donation of land and funding better what it has enjoyed.
He equally laud the Rector’s dream of making patent innovations and inventions that will catch the world’s attention. With this collaboration and more, the dream to metamorphosize the polytechnic to a university of technology is feasible, he concluded.

Comr. Jolaoso, former Coordinator of NYCN Sagamu Branch, thanked the ruggedness of the Rector and other managements, were he noted areas the Youth council can be of help and useful to the school. Jolaoso also stated that adding vocational & technical studies and training to the institution courses will also adds another plus to the growth of the students.

Comr. Odumosu, the Coordinator NYCN Ikenne Branch, on his own, urge the Institution to create a space for “Motion Ground” where pictures and artistic images can add to values and fun in the academic environment. The stand will generate income to the SSUG and be managed by it. And a photo club will follow to equip the student for enterprise while learning. “Having several annex of the Institution in other towns of Remo Land will also help boost the academic growth of our land, while having collaborations with Private Partner Partnership (PPP) will also add fast developmental building capacity to the institutions”, Odumosu added.

Questions were asked from the Rector about the viral news of moving the Institution to other town in Ijebu area, which the Rector tag as rumors, untrue news and fallacy stories, while he narrates the true stories to the visiting youths and also urge the Youths and the general public to disregard the hearsay stories.

In remarks, Comr Adebowale Aderonke, a.k.a Empress MO, lauded the Rector on behalf of the youths, for his receptiveness, hospitality and prompt host in spite of the short notice, audience and warm responses.

The Visiting Youth Leaders also used that medium to go round the campus while appreciating the growth and development so far in the school.
