Young, energetic scion of the Oyefolu rulling house of Latawa and proudly son of the Late Baba ITC, who was recently crowned the 3rd Atawa Of Latawa, Sagamu Ogun State, His Royal Highness Oba Rotimi Oyedele Oyefolu (Oyefolu 1), today, Thursday December 1st, 2022, received his staff and certificate of office at a well-attended ceremony, held at Orita Latawa, Sagamu.

Genesis Media House gathered that the staff and certificate of office was presented by His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Executive Governor of Ogun State, who was ably represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Oladunjoye Hamzat.

It would be remembered that the newly crowned Atawa, Oba Oyefolu made history as the 3rd Atawa of Latawa Land, after being selected from the Oyefolu ruling house following the demise of the 2nd Atawa of Latawa, Late Oba Jimoh Sosanya Alaga who joined his ancestors on January 2021, after over 20 years of kingship rule.

Among other things, HRH Oba Oyefolu is a seasoned fabricator who has received training both home and abroad. obtained Diploma in Metal Fabrication at the Government Technical College, Ayetoro, Ogun State in October 1998, who has received training both home and abroad. The proudly son of the late Baba ITC, was born June 17, 1963, in Sagamu to the rulling royal family of Oyefolu. Upon completion of his school leaving certificate, he proceeded to the Government Technical College, Ayetoro, Ogun State in October 1998, where he obtained his Diploma in Metal Fabrication.

Present at the event were several dignitaries including Ogbeni Afolabi Jubril Odulate – Chairman, Sagamu Local Government and his Vice Comr. Isiaka Salami, His Royal Majesty Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi – The Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Land, prominent royal kings of Sagamu, Chiefs, son’s and daughter’s of the land and many other amiable personalities.

In his acceptance speech, young Oba Oyefolu stated that he was appreciative of the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his speedy consideration and approval of his candidature as the Atawa of Latawa. “I thank His Excellency, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, the Akarigbo and other Remo Traditional Council, the Baale of Gbodomu, Baba Oba of Latawa, Otunba Ogunfuwa, and other Chiefs of Latawa, the Olootu Ebi Oyefolu – Chief Nurudeen Akinyemi Kaletu Oyefolu and all the Oyefolu’s rulling house, all Sons and Daughters of Latawa both home and abroad and all amiable noble personalities presence today, for their royally, fatherly, morally, financially and lovely support in making it possible for me to be the new Atawa of Latawa Land, Sagamu”, he said.

“I am deeply honored and grateful to have been chosen as the Atawa of Latawa, Sagamu by the Council of Chiefs. It is with great joy of heart i accept the royal position as the new Atawa. I accept this on behalf of the good people of Latawa, Sagamu, as i wish may this royal position humbles me”, he concluded.
