The youth Chairman of Ogun State, Olóyè Akolawole Shoremi, in company of other five State Chairmen from the Southwest zone of Nigeria, on Saturday February 3, 2024, arrived Kaduna State to participate in an emergency National Management Meeting of the Youth Council.

The 3—day meeting held at the Holiday Conference Hotel, City Center, was convened to address emerging sociopolitical issues that bothers on the welfare of the youth constituency and Nigeria as a whole.

The management meeting attended by majority of the State Chairmen, over forty nationwide youth organizations, Leaders and Stakeholders of the youth constituency examined issues on national security, youth welfare, and key businesses of the youth Council.

Addressing pressmen at the end of the meeting, the Stakeholders expressed confidence in Nigeria’s security high command to tackle the insecurity problem and charges President Tinubu to do more by urgently addressing the economic challenges. The Council observed that economic woes have further compounded the insecurity problem.

The communique reads in part,

“The apex youth body, under the leadership of its President, Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, is saddened by the now daily kidnappings and gunmen attacks in most parts of the country, a situation that calls for urgent action to ensure the release of all those held in kidnappers’ dens in various parts of the country.

“As President Tinubu continues to empower the security agencies with the needed resources, we charge him to speed up the implementation of his economic policy and review where necessary to ease Nigerians’ hardship. When people can move around easily at an affordable price, when citizens can afford basic commodities, with employment opportunities and basic infrastructure, the insecurity will reduce to the barest minimum.”

In its media briefing, the Chairmen’s Forum led by the Chairman of Oyo State, Com. Abdul-Salam Abdul-Quadri urged the National Executive Council to promptly implement the resolutions formulated at its recently concluded emergency meeting of the National Management Committee, which were agreed upon by various stakeholders across the country. Among the resolutions made is the need to create more platforms for young people to voice their concerns and aspirations.

The 3—day meeting ended on Monday February 5, 2024, as Stakeholders departed to their various locations.
