There have been apprehension in many quarters over unsolicited messages allegedly from the Cross Rivers State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu seeking financial assistance.

In a statement release by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Emmanuel Ogbechen, noted that one of the Governor’s phone numbers has been hacked and those behind the act are seeking financial assistance from unsuspecting members of the public.

“One of the phone numbers belonging to the Governor was breached by hi-tech criminals in the early hours of Sunday, February 11, 2024”, Ogbechen said, noting the scammers have gone on to utilise the breached number to advance their nefarious activities to try to scam unsuspecting individuals, urging the general public not fall to such devious attempt.

Ogbechen hereby sends warning and advise to the general public to disregard any such messages purportedly from the Governor.

He further stated that the hacked number has been secured, while relevant security agencies are working to apprehend those behind this obnoxious act.
