In a decisive move to resolve all leadership crisis skyrocketing in the Youth council of Sagamu, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Land and also the Chairman of Ogun State Council of Obas, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Victor Adewale Ajayi, has brought an end to the longstanding power tussle between the two fractional youth body in Sagamu Local Government, namely the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and the Sagamu Youth Association (SYA).
Recognizing the need for unity, prosperity and importance of Youth inclusion in every community development, the Akarigbo officially declared NYCN as the apex umbrella Youth Body for Sagamu Local Government, to champion and foster the affairs and activities of all Youths in Sagamu. This resolution were seen as an expected measures to quell tensions, settled leadership tussle, promote peace, unity and foster harmony among the Youths of Sagamu.
The resolution of the two Youth Body and announcement of NYCN as the apex body was finalised in a meeting between the Akarigbo and the leadership of the two groups. The meeting which was held today, Wednesday, 13th March, 2024, had the attendance of the royal king, Oba Ajayi, the Acting Coordinator of NYCN, Comr. Ayoola Aduroja, the PRO of NYCN, Comr. Adeyinka Ashaye and the Acting President of SYA, Comr. Oluwaseun Oyebajo.
Oba Ajayi in his statement, said that having two parallel youth body in one community will delayed the right and functionality of Youths in the community and to have one youth body system, NYCN should be the only recognize apex Youth body in Sagamu, that will be representing the affairs of the Youths at Royal Initiatives for Development of Sagamu Community (RIDSCo) and in every other related Youth agency and as well as the local council area, up to community intervention affairs. “I hereby directed all executives and members of SYA to join the apex body, NYCN, in moving the community forward, urging everyone to let bygone be bygone. See yourselves as one united body, and accept this resolution with love, peace and harmony and for the sake of Sagamu development”, Akarigbo said, directing the Acting President of SYA to pass the information across to all her members, while he also promise to call the stakeholders, executives and members of the SYA to a meeting to inform them of the new development.
