In a remarkable display of commitment to public health, the Olotu Ebi Abejoye and Adeoshin family from the royal dynasty of Liyangun Rulling House of Akarigbo of Remo Land, Alhaji Malik Adetunji Folarin, marked his 84th birthday anniversary alongside his beloved wife, Mrs. Mosunmola Folarin, aged 70th yrs old, with free medical outreach in Sagamu, area of Ogun State.

While speaking with newsmen from Genesis Media Hub, Alhaji Folarin, who also doubled as the Olotu Ebi Luberu Abejoye of Liyangun Royal Dynasty and General Secretary of the Gboyelu of Akarigbo, said the free medical outreach is part of his avowed commitment in touching humanity.

The humanitarian outreach, organised and supported by Mosun Malik Folarin Foundation, took place today, Friday, August 2nd, 2024, at UAMC (Eleja) Primary School, along Baruwa/Eleja/Surulere road, Sagamu, Ogun State, witness the presence of various medical experts attending to people, with over 600 beneficiaries, both young, adult and old people, in attendance.

The glitzy occasion, which featured free medical consultation, health education, blood pressure and blood sugar check, health status check, health counselling, vaccine education, distribution of drugs and food item packages to all the beneficiaries, and among many others, was said “to be a continuous future activities and annual outreach to the society and would continue to provide necessary assistance to humanity at large”, according to the celebrant, Alhaji Folarin.

While speaking on development that further fueled his passion for the health outreach, the celebrant, Alhaji Folarin, who is also the Chairman of Anwal-ul Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Sagamu Mission, recalled an event from years ago, when he was a diabetes patient, saying it was a great news for him for the solutions to it because it was discovered at an early stage. “I appealed to all the general public to continually check their health status, noting that good health care for a person is very important, stressing that the day someone’s heart stops beating is the day everything ends”, Alh. Folarin said.

The celebrant who was full of smiles noted that throwing parties up and down would take us nowhere as humans, explaining that rather than engaging in jamboree, he always look out for opportunities to preach preventive health and do very productive things. “I just want something that would better impact people, because if I throw a party today, people would come but what happens after eating and drinking, they will all go home and forget about today, in fact, they might eat what they are not supposed to eat, so I rather organise things that impact people positively,” hhe said.

While applauding the gesture of the celebrant, Mrs. Ademola, one of the beneficiaries of the program, said, “Alh. Folarin and that of his wife, Mosunmola, has impacted lives, and looking at the way they decided to celebrate their birthday, you would notice that it was a unique way. A lot of people have celebrated birthdays of this nature by going to one of the exotic halls to party and make merry, but they preferred to touch lives with their birthday by embracing preventive care against health issues, noting this is highly commendable.

“The successful execution of this medical outreach underscores Alhaji Folarin’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of people, showcasing his leadership and dedication to his children’s, families and society at large, by making a positive impact”, the children of the celebrant said.

A doctor, one of the medical expert at the event praised the outreach as the most impactful event of the Folarin’s birthday celebrations, noting its meaningful contribution to the community.

“However, this comprehensive health outreach and education that the celebrant has given us is worth more than food and drinks and it has affected many lives positively”, a community leader and also one of the beneficiaries of the program, Chief Jimoh, concluded, while applauding the celebrant for his support to humanity and the society at large.
