The Ogun lawmaker representing Sagamu 1 (Offin) State Constituency at the 10th Ogun State House of Assembly, Omooba Damilare Mohammed Bello, popularly known as DRE, as today, August 12th, 2023, been a day of celebrating the 2023 International Youth Day (IYD), reaffirmed the commitment of his tenure as a youth to create meaningful opportunities for young ones in his Constituency.

DRE made this known at an event organized, sponsored and hosted by him at Onijoku Hall, Sabo Sagamu, in commemorating with the Youths of his Constituency on the celebrations of the 2023 International Youth Day, with the theme: “Sustainable Development: The Youth Role In Nigeria Economics Future & National Security,” while imploring the youths to spearhead efforts aimed at achieving the highest quality of sustainable development, which will shape the future of our planet in conformity.

While speaking, DRE emphasised that youth empowerment, job creation, education and skills development to digital innovation, financial technology, and youth participation in governance is a fundamental pillar of all reform actions being implemented across sectors, in order to create an environment where Nigerian youths, mostly Sagamu, can thrive and contribute to the growth and development of the nation, while he also acknowledged the growing interest and impact of many young Nigerians in technology-related fields over the world and also vows to continually engage the Youths of his Constituency quarterly so as to know what they want at every points in time.

Speaking at the event, the Area Commander, ACP Alao Sheu, who was duly represented by DPO of Sagamu Command; SP Fatoberu Oyekanmi, commemorate with the Youth’s, stating the functions of the Police force in Sagamu communities, while he urge the Youths to be a law abiding citizens and also rally support with the security agency in ensuring a peaceful life and secure societies.

Comrade Ola Yusuf in his remarks said; “to whom much is given, much is expected”. The youths in Sagamu starting from the Local Government Chairman, Ogbeni Afolabi Odulate, Sagamu II (Makun) State Constituency representative at the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeniran Ademola Adeyinka (Sapele), including Sagamu Constituency 1, Omooba Damilare Bello, the duo of Comrade Oluwole Aduroja abd Comr. Segun Sikiru; championing the Sagamu Youths affairs in National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and Sagamu Youth Association -SYA, respectively, has in their 30’s dominates the political space and corridor of power in Sagamu Local Government, they all shouldn’t miss this rare golden opportunities as an agents of change, while he also urged the Youths to champion national progress, unity and collective prosperity for all citizens of our beloved country.

Mr. Segun Dada, who is the CEO of Idea Center also narrated his youthful experienced to the Youth’s, using himself as a case study, while Prince Momson Jnr. in his reactions, stated that Youths complaining less to take actions are busy contributing much to the economic future of our dear Nation.

Speaking on behalf of the Youth body, the Acting Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Sagamu Branch; Comr. Ayoola Aduroja said Sagamu Youth’s are greater in unity than in their divisions. He therefore charged the Honourable to do everything within his capacity to fight the high rate of drugs abuse and mostly the cultists clash which usually results to killings, shading of bloods, destructions and distoping the peace of the community, as well as engaging the Youths through their Associations, while he also charged all the Youths to be security cautious and be a peace loving Youths in their various quarters. Aduroja also advices the Youths to stop taking laws to their hands, using the End-SARS saga and destructions/burnings of Commercial Banks in Sagamu as an example. Aduroja also urged the Lawmaker to bring the governance much closer to the people with much Youth inclusiveness and oriented ideas in all his activities.

All the Youths in there large numbers were so happy and joyful for the well planned events, commending the Lawmaker for not neglecting the Youth Associations and also for organizing this august occasion and commemorating with the Youths on this year International Youth Day and also giving cash to all the Youths in attendance for Youth Day celebrations, noting this is first of it’s kind in the history of Offin Constituency and also beyond political gains, while also appreciating his kind gesture and prays God to guide his ways.

They also charge Hon. DRE to do more in his legislative duty by bringing governance more closer to the grassroots, and also engaged the Youths more, in his decision making.
Moreso, series of reactions and questions were also directed to the Lawmaker, which he answered correctively according to their request.

In his remarks, Omooba Damilare Bello appreciates the Youths for there massive turnout, love and support for the event. “I am ready to put in all resources and efforts to ensure this engagement initiatives continue quarterly”, the Lawmaker said, stating he represent Sagamu 1 (Offin) Constituency at the State Assembly to serve everyone in his Constituency, irrespective of their political affiliations, religious beliefs, tribes and gender equity, noting his doors are extremely open for all, noting he will soon open his Constituency Office in Sagamu.

Hon. DRE in his conclusion noted he will consistently engage with and listen to youths with a view to implement their importance in nation building and forward-looking feedback, while he also heartily extended his best wishes to all Sagamu, Remo, Ogun State and Nigerian Youths at large on this joyous International Youth Day celebration.
