A delegation of the Nigerian Society for Animal Production led by Prof. O. J. Babayemi, yesterday, paid a visit to Aare Dr. Adebayo Odunowo at his office. In the delegation were Prof. Olugbenga Ogunwole, Prof O. A. Abu, Dr. O. A. Sokunbi, and Dr. (Mrs.) Benedicta Adetoro-Awopetu.
Apart from discussing the upcoming 2024 NSAP Conference, which will be hosted by University of Ibadan, the current state of the Nigerian Livestock Industry, particularly the poultry sub sector was X-rayed.

It was agreed that if solutions were not found soon, the poultry industry risks imminent collapse, which could lead to severe malnutrition among Nigerian, most especially Nigerian children. Otunba Dr. Adebayo Odunowo advised the body to join ranks with other stakeholders in the livestock industry and mount pressure on the government to ban the export of some feed ingredients like Soy Bean Meal and Wheat Offals. We don’t have enough to eat, and yet people, especially foreigners, are exporting our farm products out of the country.
An Award of Honour was later presented to Otunba Dr. Adebayo Odunowo by Prof. O. J. Babayemi on behalf of the Society, for his contribution towards the growth of NSAP.
