Ogun Lawmaker Hon. Omooba Damilare Mohammed Bello Strengthens Ties With Sagamu NYCN, Backs Bakery Initiatives Training With ₦250,000 Donation

Hon. Omooba Damilare Mohammed Bello, widely known as DRE, fulfilled his commitment to engage with the leadership of the Sagamu National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) today November 8, 2025, at his constituency office in Sagamu. This meeting follows DRE’s recent request to connect with the youth council within a week to discuss the influential Sagamu Youth Night statement and to explore avenues for collaboration and support.
The session commenced with opening remarks from the Sagamu NYCN Coordinator, Comrade Yusuf Adebayo, who expressed gratitude for Hon. DRE’s timely response and intervention concerning youth representation in Sagamu. Adebayo emphasized the NYCN’s substantial contributions to youth development in the area and reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the interests of the youth.
Addressing the attendees, Comrade Saliu Olamide Daniel, the PRO II of the Sagamu NYCN, clarified the intent behind the recent statement was not to tarnish Hon. DRE’s reputation or seek political favor, but rather to call attention to pressing youth matters. He urged Hon. DRE to recognize the importance of the youth council’s voice and its independence from political influences.
In his address, Hon. DRE acknowledged the leadership of the Sagamu NYCN for their visit and articulated his appreciation for their insights. He engaged in a constructive dialogue with the youth representatives, emphasizing the NYCN’s critical role in promoting youth development across Nigeria, Ogun State, and local communities. Hon. DRE notably praised the council’s recent initiative to train young females in bakery skills, highlighting the positive impact such programs have on empowering the youth.
In a demonstration of his commitment to youth initiatives, Hon. DRE announced a donation of two hundred and fifty thousand naira to support the ongoing bakery training program, underscoring his dedication to collaborating with the NYCN and furthering youth development in Sagamu.
Concluding the meeting, Comrade Ismail Yusuf, PRO I of the Sagamu NYCN, commended Hon. DRE for clarifying the importance of youth representation and reiterated that his support for the council was both welcomed and appreciated.
Also present at the meeting were key members of the Sagamu NYCN executive, including Comrade Ologe Afusat (Treasurer), Comrade Abiola Soyombo (Assistant Secretary), Comrade Adeolu Adesanya (Auditor), members of Team DRE, and various other stakeholders in the community.
The meeting served as a promising step toward fostering collaboration and support for youth initiatives in Sagamu, reinforcing the essential role of the youth in shaping a better future for the community.
