As a Christian, since time immemorial, it’s not new news that most Christian wives respect their Pastors more than they do their husbands – this tends to be a “norm” that has eaten deep into the system.
It’s well known to us how religion is like culture and is always being taken more seriously than it’s supposed to.

Most Nigerians have a strong belief that our religious leaders do things the right way even when it’s obvious they have their own flaws too. Some Pastors are crazier than some husbands.

Pastors are regarded to be “Spiritual Fathers” and God’s “Mouth-piece” for the congregation this is undeniably one of the many reasons why most wives show utmost respect to their Pastors and neglect the instruction of the bible as instructed in Ephesians 5:33b – “and let the wife see that she respects her husband”.

This, I think leads to scenarios where Wives who have never knelt down to greet their husbands, at the sight of their pastors, go straight to the ground.

Over familiarity also known as “See Finish”, I think also has a big role to play in this case. It is quite obvious that when a lot of time is being spent with a particular person, it often leads to over familiarisation which in itself leads to disrespect sometimes.

One mad thing that also burst my head is – Most wives call their Pastors “Daddy” and they call their husbands by name.
