On 11th October 2024, the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Sagamu Branch ably led by the Coordinator Comrade Oluwole Aduroja, paid a courtesy visit to the newly posted Area Commander, ACP Alabi Akinjide, to formally introduce the Council and explore areas of collaboration in enhancing security within Sagamu.
The Coordinator of NYCN, Sagamu Branch, Comrade Oluwole Aduroja, led the executives and warmly congratulated ACP Akinjide on his new posting. Comrade Aduroja reaffirmed the commitment of the youth leadership in fostering a strong synergy between the Council and the Area Police Command. He emphasized the Council’s readiness to work closely with the police in promoting peace and security across the local government area.
During the visit, Comrade Aduroja also stressed the need for justice in the case of Saheed Awolesi, a young man who was tragically killed by hoodlums reportedly to be fulani herdsmen. He urged that the perpetrators be swiftly arrested and punished according to the law, while also calling for the deployment of additional security personnel to the area to better protect the community.

In response, ACP Alabi Akinjide assured the Council that police officers had already been deployed to the affected community to provide adequate security and address the residents’ concerns. He further expressed gratitude for the visit and reiterated the importance of community support in effective policing. He highlighted that the police alone cannot achieve optimal security without active participation from the community. He called on the youth leaders to serve as role models in their communities, working together to reduce crime and foster a safer environment for all residents of Sagamu.
Both parties agreed that mutual cooperation is essential in tackling the security challenges in the area, and the visit concluded on a positive note with assurances of sustained collaboration.
