Urgent Request For Road Repairs At Aladie/Mayegun, Sagamu-Interchange Expressway — Sagamu NYCN Raises Alarm, Write Abiodun, Akarigbo, And Others

Your Excellency,

Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR,

Executive Governor, Ogun State,

Your Excellency,

I wish to draw your esteemed attention to a tragic accident that occurred earlier today, 20th September 2024, near the former Atunrase Hotels along the Sagamu-Interchange expressway. The accident involved an 18-passenger bus, motorcycles, and a long-container truck, tragically resulting in the loss of two lives—a mother and her child—while several others sustained serious injuries.

Upon arriving at the scene and evaluating the situation, it became clear that a damaged portion of the road at Aladie/Mayegun, along the Sagamu-Interchange expressway, was a significant contributing factor to this unfortunate incident. This section of the road has deteriorated considerably and requires urgent repairs. Given the importance of this road, which connects Ogun State’s industrial hub to other parts of the country, it experiences heavy traffic. The damaged section has led to persistent congestion and, regrettably, accidents.

While we acknowledge that the Sagamu-Benin expressway falls under federal jurisdiction, we humbly appeal to your Excellency to kindly intervene and facilitate the immediate repair of this critical portion. The people of Ogun State, particularly Sagamu residents, are disproportionately affected by the road’s current state, and a swift resolution would not only prevent further accidents but also alleviate the traffic challenges along this vital route.

We would also like to express our gratitude to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), TRACE, and the Nigeria Police Force for their prompt response in managing the situation at the accident scene.

We remain confident in your continued commitment to the safety and welfare of the people of Sagamu and look forward to your swift intervention.

Thank you for your attention and consideration.

E.Signed;

Comrade Oluwole Aduroja
