2015 Election Betrayal: How I Was Removed From Power — Jonathan Speaks Out

Former President Goodluck Jonathan shared his experiences of betrayal while campaigning for reelection in 2015 during the 70th birthday celebration of Chief Mike Aiyegbeni Oghiadomhe in Benin, Edo State.
Jonathan remarked that many Nigerian politicians are unreliable and expressed gratitude for Oghiadomhe, stating he is one of the few true friends he can wholeheartedly trust.
“Politics in Nigeria is rife with betrayals,” Jonathan stated. “Throughout the 2015 election, I witnessed a great deal of this. It’s rare to find someone who remains consistent in their words; one might say one thing in the morning and something entirely different by the afternoon.”
He praised Oghiadomhe, saying, “He is the kind of friend who would take a bullet for me. His words carry weight; he is someone you can trust completely. Unfortunately, most politicians do not offer that same reliability.”
Oghiadomhe served as Jonathan’s Chief of Staff from 2010 to 2014. The event was attended by numerous dignitaries, including Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Chief Medical Director of UBTH, Prof. (Mrs.) Izia Ize-Iyamu, former Governors Lucky Igbinedion and Oserheimen Osunbor, Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, Chief Tom Ikimi, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), among others.
