Elon Musk has made history by becoming the first individual ever to surpass a net worth of $800 billion, following the acquisition of his artificial intelligence and social media firm, xAI, by his rocket company, SpaceX.
According to Forbes, this monumental deal raises the value of the combined company to approximately $1.25 trillion, resulting in an extraordinary boost of $84 billion to Musk’s wealth. As a consequence, his net worth now stands at an unprecedented $852 billion.
Prior to the merger, Musk held about 42% ownership in SpaceX and a 49% stake in xAI. Post-acquisition, his ownership in the new SpaceX–xAI entity is projected to be around 43%, making it his most substantial asset with an estimated value of $542 billion.
In addition to his holdings in SpaceX and xAI, Musk maintains a 12% stake in Tesla, along with stock options in the electric vehicle manufacturer, further solidifying his status as the wealthiest individual in the world.
With this remarkable achievement, Musk’s fortune positions him nearly $580 billion ahead of Google co-founder Larry Page, who ranks as the second-richest person globally. This milestone brings Musk closer to the possibility of becoming the first trillionaire in history.
