In a shocking incident early this morning, a newborn baby girl, still attached to her placenta, was discovered abandoned at a corner on Eleja Street in Sagamu area of Ogun State at around 6 a.m. Local residents, who were the first to encounter the infant, expressed their astonishment and concern over the mysterious circumstances surrounding her arrival.

Hon. Owoniyi Asenuga, a chieftain of the community and eyewitness to the incident, promptly reported the situation to Genesis Media Hub. He stated that the child was initially taken to Ijagba Health Center in Sagamu, for immediate evaluation. However, the Ijagba health authorities advised them to transfer the infant to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu for comprehensive care.

Upon arrival at OOUTH, the baby girl was warmly attended to by Dr. Adenuga, who was on duty and ensured she received the necessary medical attention and cleaning.

The discovery has ignited a wave of concern within the community, with residents urgently seeking assistance to ensure the wellbeing of the baby. Additionally, community members are appealing for help in locating the infant’s mother or any relatives who may have information about her whereabouts. They urge anyone with knowledge of the situation to report to local police stations or the royal palaces or community association in Sagamu.

As the case unfolds, the community rallies together, showing compassion and solidarity for the helpless infant, emphasizing the need for collective action in situations of distress.
