The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Sagamu Branch, in collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Sagamu Division, conducted a successful environmental sanitationexercise on July 24th, 2025, at Falawo Market. This initiative aimed to promote cleanliness and environmental awareness within the community.
During the sanitation exercise, the Sagamu NYCN Coordinator, Comrade Yusuf Adebayo, addressed the youth corps members, emphasizing the significance of the event for the local community. He highlighted several key points:
1. Promoting Hygiene: Adebayo underscored the importance of maintaining a clean environment to prevent diseases and promote public healthcare.
2. Community Involvement: He stressed the need for active participation from the youth in community service, as it fosters a sense of responsibility and ownership of local issues.
3. Environmental Awareness: Adebayo pointed out that such sanitation efforts raise awareness about the impact of waste management and proper disposal practices.
4. Strengthening Bonds: He mentioned that collaborative efforts between organizations like the NYCN and NYSC can strengthen community ties and encourage collective action.

In addition to the sanitation exercise, Comrade Adebayo announced a general youth meeting scheduled for tomorrow, July 25, 2025, at Sagamu Town Hall. He urged all NYSC members to attend and encouraged them to invite fellow youths, emphasizing that the meeting would focus on discussing strategies for enhancing youth participation in community development.
In response, the team leader of the partnering corps, expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts with the NYCN, acknowledging the significant role of the youth corps in such initiatives. She commended the volunteers for their dedication and highlighted the functionality and enthusiasm of the youth in contributing to the success of the sanitation exercise.
As the day concluded, participants left Falawo Market not only with a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship but also with renewed motivation to engage actively in the betterment of their community.
