OGUN 2023: Open Letter To Our Party Leaders — Concerned Sagamu APC Member After Guber, State Assembly Election

I want to sincerely appreciate our efforts as leaders to hold our party together to date as we know that so many efforts were made and are still being made to ensure our togetherness which is what is keeping us to date. While we have genuine members and leaders among us who are willing to sacrifice anything and everything, we also have those who only wait to take anything and everything possible for themselves which has resulted in some failures we had in the last recent election.

Yes, we want to blame the late games that came in but did we prepare for that election?

The opposition party did more than us, I guess we were too confident that we are the ruling party.

They started from the Continuous Voters Registration and loaded so many polling units, followed by incentives and lastly, the cash Banza they did on the election which was far more than us.

While we didn’t care until last-minute efforts were made in the last three months of the CVR exercise which was too late for us in my own opinion.

We resulted in late campaigns and what we should have been doing early, we began to run at the late minute.

Our reward system in APC Sagamu is bad and we must look into it if we are serious to win convincingly in the next election coming.

Here are some I will like to outline;

  1. Those who participated in the CVR for the party were not compensated to date. The agreement was different from what was finally done. Yet we remain loyal.
  2. Committees were set up for the campaign and to date, not even a thank you message is sent or was to all members.
  3. The Polling Agents who served to protect the Party were given cards which were probably to
either be loaded as cards or cash while other parties gave out good compensation to their agents. Even the card, some are yet to load it.

Yet they did all they could to protect the party.

I don’t want to believe our leaders care less about the reward system which is a good motivation to get better results.

Aside from this, we had so many unfaithful members which can be categorised into various groups but I won’t want to dig deep into that for personal reasons and I believe you are also aware of this.

Lastly, we had so many factions and groups which is also key to where we are today.

If we continue like this, we may likely lose more members of our party aside from the internal politics which is also a factor.

I, therefore, urge all our leaders to see the welfare of our members across boards as the 2023 election has thought a lot of lessons.

We need to go back to the drawing board to ensure that our party still maintains the lead.

I hope this piece of letter meets us well, as this is written out of a passionate desire for us to get and grow better.

Thank you and God bless.
