Oloritun Lives On: The Saliu’s Dynasty Honors Late Patriarch With A Remembrance Ceremony, Rolls Out Free ICT Training Initiatives

The Saliu’s Dynasty and community came together on April 10, 2025, to mark a poignant one year remembrance ceremony honoring the memory of their beloved Patriarch and revered leader High Chief Saliu Owoseni Dauda popularly known as Oloritun or Baba Soldier, on the first anniversary of his passing. The event took place at the family’s residence at Ogededudu Street in Sabo Sagamu, area of Ogun State, celebrating the enduring life, impact and legacy of the revered leader in the community.

High Chief Saliu Owoseni Dauda was a multifaceted figure who served as the Olotu Ebi of the Matowomisa Ruling House of Agura Land, the Olumale of Agura Land, and the Oloritun (Eni-Itan 1) of Ijoku Land. A retired soldier of the Nigerian Army, he also played a pivotal role in regional politics as the Assistant General Secretary of the Odua People’s Congress (OPC) in Ogun State and held leadership positions in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at both the ward and local levels.

During the ceremony, one of the sons of the esteemed leader Comrade Saliu Olamide Daniel Owoseni, the CEO and Chairman of Genesis Media & Communications Limited, announced empowerment initiatives for the community’s youth and student at his company.

In line with his father’s legacy and to mark the first year remembrance ceremony of the late sage, he revealed plans to provide free computer ICT training and media services, to five community youths and students at Genesis Computer Hub and Genesis Media Hub, respectively. This move is a testament to his late father’s legacy of kindness and support for the community’s vulnerable populations.

“My father was not just a leader but a friend and mentor to many youths,” Olamide reflected. “He was a sage generallismo, an icon of humanity, a leader par excellence, a man of kindness and generosity, whose legacy of service and care will forever be etched in our hearts.”

Olamide also shared his intention to establish a non-governmental organization (NGO) in honor of his late father, focusing on support for vulnerable youths and the elderly people within the community. He urged attendees to remain tuned for updates regarding the foundation’s launch. “The foundation’s objectives and activities will be announced soon, offering hope and support to those in need”, he concluded.

The event was marked by heartfelt prayers and tributes from prominent community members, including the Imam of Araromi Mosque, and other Islamic clerics. The Imam acknowledged the late High Chief’s unwavering support for religious practices and community services and highlighted the significant impact of the Saliu Dynasty on the Araromi Mosque community.

“Before his passing, High Chief Dauda was honored with the Opo Adini title by the committee of the Araromi Mosque, and he was actively planning for his coronation before death took him away from us,” said the Imam, emphasizing the importance of upholding his legacy.

Mrs. Zainab Oluwaremilekun Musiliu, the eldest daughter of the deceased, expressed gratitude to all attendees for their presence and support during this significant milestone, saying, “Your presence today is a priceless gift to our family.”

The remembrance ceremony drew a wide range of people from different areas was attended by various dignitaries, including political leaders from the APC, members of the Nigerian Legion, OPC, family members, community leaders from Ijoku and Agura Land, and many other notable figures. Their presence underscored the late chief’s impact on his community and beyond.

As the family and community grieves and reflects, the legacy of High Chief Saliu Owoseni Dauda remains a beacon of hope and inspiration for future generations.
