‎Police Warns: Collecting Transport Fare Without A Visit Is Fraud

By Odunuga Yusuf

The Rivers State Police Command has issued a strong warning against the practice of collecting transport fare from men without following through on the agreement to visit. This behavior has been classified as a form of fraud.

‎In a statement released on Thursday, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, emphasized that such actions constitute “obtaining money under false pretenses,” which is a punishable offense under Nigerian law.

‎SP Iringe-Koko cautioned young women engaged in this practice to cease immediately, asserting that the police will take stern action as such activities will be treated as a form of scam.

‎“I am sharing this information with you because I care. Remember, collecting transport fare without honoring the agreement is a serious offense,” SP Iringe-Koko stated.
