Political Violence Erupts At Remo North APC Meeting: Ogun Governor’s Aide, Engr. Olusola Fadipe (Peterfad) Escapes Death In Attacked By Alleged Thugs Linked To Mr. Adeyinka “Lekutty“ Adeleye

In a shocking incident on Monday, February 16th, 2025, political tensions escalated in Ogun State during a political leaders and stakeholders meeting of the All Progressives Congress, APC, held at the Remo North Local Government Secretariat. Engr. Olusola Fadipe, popularly known as Peterfad, who serves as the Ogun State Special Adviser to Governor on Parks and Gardens, was reportedly violently attacked by individuals said to be thugs allegedly linked to Ogun SA on Political Matters Hon. Adebiyi Adeleye’s brother, Mr. Adeyinka Adeleye, commonly known as Lekutty.
Speaking to newsmen during a hospital visitation after the incident, Engr. Fadipe recounted that he had received a message from the Remo North Local Government Secretary, Hon. Akeem Ashiru, informing him of a stakeholders’ meeting scheduled at the office of the Chairman of Remo North Local Government at the Council Secretariat in Isara Remo, area of Ogun State.
According to Fadipe, upon his arrival at the Secretariat, he was denied entry by security personnel stationed at the gate. The guards reportedly informed him that they were acting on instructions allegedly issued by Hon. Adebiyi Adeleye and the Chairman of Remo North Local Government, Hon. Muyiwa Sodade, barring him from participating in the meeting. Upon hearing this, he stated that he subsequently withdrew from the premises and proceeded to formally report the matter to the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for fatherly intervention.
Approximately 30 minutes after making the report, Engr. Fadipe said he received a call from the LG Chairman Hon. Sodade inviting him back to attend the meeting. Upton his re-entry to the meeting venue, Engr. Fadipe disclosed that he encountered disparaging remarks from both Hon. Adebiyi Adeleye and Hon. Muyiwa Sodade addressing attendees, reportedly criticizing his decision to inform the Governor of the situation, which led to heightened tensions in the room.
As the meeting progressed, a contentious observation surrounding video recording was reportedly raised by Peterfad. According to his account, this observation triggered a confrontation that quickly escalated into physical violence.
Fadipe noted that Mr. Adeyinka Adeleye, popularly known as Lekutty and described as the younger brother of Hon. Adebiyi Adeleye, initiated the attack by slapping him, which quickly escalated into a physical assault involving other assailants, including Hon. Ganiu Onabowu (popularly known as Gilo), a serving councilor from Ward 1, along with several individuals identified as thugs reportedly associated with Lekutty.
Witnesses reported that these attackers physically assaulted and molested Peterfad, subjecting him to serious injuries. Peterfad stated that he was beaten and molested before the intervention of Hon. Seyi Osho, Councilor representing Ward 2, and the Ogun State SSA to Governor on Public Communications, Mr. Dare Odufowokan, who reportedly stepped in to rescue him from further onslaught.
In the aftermath of the attack, Peterfad said he was taken to the Isara Remo Police Division, where he met with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) to lodge an official complaint, and subsequently proceeded to the Police Area Command of the Remo Division, met the Area Commander and was reportedly advised to contact the Ogun State Commissioner of Police to provide a detailed account of the incident, given its political undertones.
Following his interactions with law enforcement, Peterfad was rushly taken to Livewell Hospital in Sagamu for urgent medical treatment. Medical personnel attended to him for injuries reportedly sustained during the attack. As of the time of filing this report, Engr. Olusola Fadipe was confirmed to be alive but had sustained serious injuries.
Efforts to reach Adeyinka Adeleye by newsmen for a statement regarding this incident were unsuccessful. The violent attack underscores the growing concerns over political thuggery and violence in Ogun State, raising questions about the need for greater security and conflict resolution measures within the political arena, especially as the election period approaches.
The incident has raised concerns among community people, party members and political observers within Remo North over rising tensions and the need for internal conflict resolution mechanisms within the APC structure in Remo North Local Government and Ogun State, appealing to Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Ogun APC Chairman, all Political elders, leaders and stakeholders of the party, APC, to investigate the matter and ensure accountability, and justice for the victim of this alarming assault.
