Portable Sparks Debate, Claims Late Destiny Boy Was “More Talented” Than Wizkid
By Odunuga Yusuf

Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has ignited a fresh wave of reactions online after stating in a viral video that the late Afrobeat artist Destiny Boy possessed greater vocal talent than Grammy-winning superstar Wizkid.
The remarks came during an emotional tribute in which Portable mourned Destiny Boy and reflected on what he described as the deceased singer’s unmet potential and struggles within the Nigerian music industry.
In the widely circulated clip, Portable expressed sorrow over Destiny Boy’s passing, suggesting that despite his vocal ability, he lacked the necessary support to achieve mainstream success.
“Destiny Boy, we miss you. He knew how to sing more than Wizkid, but he didn’t have any helper,” Portable asserted.
He also offered a prayer against dying young, alluding to the pressures and insincerity he perceives in the entertainment world.
“God, please don’t let me die young. Make sure you don’t die because there is fake love everywhere,” he added.
Portable further revealed that Destiny Boy had been privately battling serious health issues and endured difficult times without adequate assistance.
The singer also questioned Destiny Boy’s decision to separate from his former group, 2T Boys, implying that the move adversely affected his career.
“I don’t know why he left his helpers, 2T Boys. Everything changed for him when he left them,” Portable remarked.
Addressing circumstances surrounding Destiny Boy’s death, Portable suggested the artist may have passed away while receiving traditional care after a prolonged illness.
“If he died at his babalawo’s place, it was because of his sickness. He had been facing a lot on his own,” he said.
Portable also dismissed rumors that Destiny Boy received houses, cars, or financial backing from established industry figures, stating there was no proof to support such claims.
The comments have stirred mixed reactions across social media, with many users debating the comparison between Destiny Boy and Wizkid, while others criticized Portable for the timing and nature of his statements.
This controversy emerges shortly after Portable’s recent release from prison following a dispute involving his fourth baby mama, Ashabi Simple.
As of the time of reporting, Wizkid has not publicly responded to Portable’s claims.
