President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja today for Europe, kicking off a 10-day “working vacation.” This trip, as outlined in a statement from Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser on information and strategy, forms part of Tinubu’s annual leave.
During his time off, the president will be visiting both France and the UK before returning to Nigeria. This latest European excursion follows his recent 12-day diplomatic tour in Japan and Brazil, which included brief stops in Dubai and Los Angeles.
Tinubu initially left Nigeria on August 15, making a layover in Dubai before arriving in Yokohama, Japan, on August 18. While in Japan, he participated in the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9). Following this, he traveled to Brazil, where he met with President Luiz da Silva and other senior Brazilian officials. Their discussions culminated in the signing of memoranda of understanding on various topics, including aviation, foreign affairs, science and technology, and agriculture.
After completing his foreign engagements, President Tinubu returned to Nigeria on August 28. Notably, in April, he spent 19 days in France and the UK for private visits.
