Remo Bye-Election: Michael Adewale Adesanya Officially Joins The Race, Outlines Vision For Constituents

Michael Adewale Adesanya, a 37-year-old global business leader, educator, and proud native of Remo, has officially declared his candidacy for the upcoming bye-election to represent Remo Federal Constituency in Nigeria’s House of Representatives. His mission is to harness Remo’s untapped economic potential and restore its legacy as a national hub of education and enterprise.“Remo is the economic throat of Nigeria—an essential link between Lagos and the hinterlands, endowed with human capital, trade access, and industrial potential,” stated Adewale.
“Yet, our community struggles as the economy tightens, opportunities dwindle, and development seems distant for our over 600,000 residents. It’s time to have a representative who understands not just Abuja, but how to mobilize it for Remo.”
From Sagamu to Silicon Valley and BackRaised in Isale Oko, Sagamu, Michael’s journey has been both local and global. He won 17 national science awards while studying in Ikenne, graduated with First-Class honors in Chemical Engineering from UNILAG, and obtained an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business. His professional experience includes leadership roles at Procter & Gamble, Jumia, and Gap Inc., followed by co-founding Suplias, a retail-tech startup, and launching Oris, a digital platform that empowers over 1,000 Nigerian sales professionals. “Home is where the heart is,” Michael emphasized. “I don’t just aspire for progress—I create it. Now it’s time to focus that energy on Remo. I’ve witnessed the prosperity that growth brings and it’s time for Remo to thrive.”
Transformative Representation
Michael’s candidacy is grounded in the belief that representation in the House of Representatives must be strategic, driving meaningful transformation through four main pillars:
1. Education as a Legacy Investment:
“Education is the foundation of our prosperity.” Through the Adewale Students Conference (ASC), he has positively impacted over 5,000 students and teachers in Ogun State over the last four years, aiming to expand this success with private-sector collaborations and federal education funds.
2. Entrepreneurship & Job Creation:
“We will make Remo a center for innovation by supporting vocational training, digital skills, and micro-enterprise development. It’s about creating an economy where jobs can thrive, not solely relying on government to provide them. I’ve done it with Oris, and I can do it for Remo.”
3. Purposeful Constituency Projects:
“We’ll leverage the federal constituency budget for meaningful growth tools—digital classrooms and youth-led businesses, transforming handouts into springboards.”
4. Influencing Policy and Legislation:
“I will advocate for policies that transform Remo into an industrial hub, focusing on infrastructure funding, power access, and incentives for special economic zones.”
An Urgent Mission
As major cities grapple with challenges, semi-urban areas like Remo face steep adversity due to Nigeria’s economic downturn, including inflation and joblessness. “We need actionable plans, not mere promises,” Michael insisted. “A legislator’s power lies in budget advocacy, policy influence, and conscientious investment in the community. That’s critical to initiate progress.”His clear action plan involves unlocking governmental resources, forming private-sector partnerships, and delivering targeted initiatives that tangibly improve residents’ lives.
A Call To Action
“This is not merely a campaign—it’s a movement aimed at revitalizing Remo. I’ve a proven track record of driving change through leadership. I’ve built businesses from the ground up. Now, I’m ready to channel that same energy into Abuja—for our schools, markets, mothers, and youth,” Michael urged. He invites the people of Remo—both locally and globally—to believe in a brighter future, to challenge the status quo, and to build a Remo that leads Nigeria in education, industry, and innovation.
“I’m not asking you to dream. I’m asking you to build with me.”
