Sequel to unabated cult killings in Sagamu in the last one month, the palace of the Paramount Ruler and the Akarigbo of Remo Land, in Sagamu, under the kingship of His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Victor Adewale Ajayi who also doubled as the Chairman of Ogun State Council Of Obas, has announced the performance of traditional rites in the town of Sagamu from 4:00p.m today, Thursday 7th, July 2022, to combat the evil reported to have allegedly led to at least death of seven souls lost of properties and several injured, within space of a month.

It would be recalled that the town had also resorted to performing traditional rites about two weeks ago in the wake of renewed Cult clashes, where about five souls were said to have allegedly being killed and have taken turns to kill one another, leaving residents in fear of being victims of stray bullets.

It was gathered that this recent one started again on Monday, July 4th, 2022 and at least two lives had been lost to the dastardly act, many were also reportedly injured during the short day of the cult menace, while residents of the town were said to have protest to the palaces of all Sagamu monarch, due to the killing of some innocent souls that was killed during the time of the cult clash.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had visited the ancient town as the police arrested those they described as wanted and murderous suspected cult killers.

The notice of the traditional rites which was circulating on social media and verily announced in all the town for the better part of yesterday, Wednesday has it that the popular Akarigbo road from Cinema road junction/Total Petrol station to RSS roundabout will be closed to vehicular and human movement today from 4p.m to 4a.m of tomorrow, Friday when the traditional rites would be performed.

In a press release from the Akarigbo Palace yesterday, July 6th, 2022, The statement read, “This is to inform the general public that Akarigbo Road from Cinema Road Junction/Total Petrol Station up to RSS Roundabout will be closed to all vehicular and human movements between 4p.m., Thursday, 7th July, 2022 and 4a.m. Friday, 8th July, 2022. This is for the purpose of traditional rites in view of recent security situation in Sagamu.

“While the Palace of HRM Akarigbo of Remoland regrets the very short notice, the total co-operation of all people of Sagamu is urgently required.”

A community leader who craved anonymity confirmed the authenticity of this notice to our Correspondent saying that the traditional rites is for the purpose of security situation in Sagamu and its environs and the traditional rites were to help fight the protracted cult killings in the town.
