Education Takes Center Stage: Association Of Sabo Sagamu Youth Leaders (ASSYL) Host Quiz Competition To Mark Annual Youth Day

The Association of Sabo Sagamu Youth Leaders (ASSYL), the central coordinating body for all youth associations in the area, successfully hosted a comprehensive quiz competition for senior secondary school students on Saturday, September 20, 2024. The event, held at the ASSYL Secretariat at Onijoku Hall, is a core part of the activities marking the association’s annual “Sabo Youth Day 2024″ celebration.
The quiz competition saw an impressive turnout of over 55 students participating. The contestants were drawn from various youth associations and different schools across the Sabo Sagamu community, highlighting a broad community engagement in the educational initiative.
The President of ASSYL, Comrade Oluwafemi Osho, represented by the General Secretary, Comrade Bamgbose, delivered the welcoming address. Comrade Bamgbose extended a warm welcome to all participants and emphasized the foundational goal of the program: to foster educational growth among the youth.
”This program is specifically designed to help your educational career growth,” Comrade Bamgbose stated, stressing the immense benefits the initiative brings not just to the students but to the community as a whole. He strongly urged the students to approach the competition with the seriousness it deserves and to avoid non-challant attitudes.
Following a rigorous competition, the results for each student were promptly announced to the audience. The climax of the session was the announcement and selection of the overall best student with the highest score, who will receive recognition at the grand finale.
In the closing remarks, the representative of the association at the national level and the Public Relations Officer II (PRO II) of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Sagamu Chapter, Comrade Saliu Olamide Daniel Owoseni, popularly known as Omo Oloritun, showered praise on the ASSYL leadership.
Comrade Owoseni lauded the executive body for their joint effort and support in successfully bringing the program to life, thereby providing a platform for students to participate and showcase their academic capabilities. He further challenged the students to view the competition beyond a mere opportunity, but rather as a crucial avenue for the upliftment of their educational careers.
Comrade Owoseni concluded his address by urging the entire audience to ensure their attendance at the grand finale of the Youth Celebration, scheduled for next week Saturday, noting it as an important occasion for networking and learning more.
Habeeb Fowora, speaking on behalf of all the participating students, expressed profound gratitude to the organizers. He appreciated ASSYL for conceptualizing and executing the event, which he acknowledged as a significant success factor in boosting their educational development.
The event was well-attended by key community figures, including various Stakeholders, Presidents of all youth associations under ASSYL, community leaders, and other prominent youths from across Sagamu, underscoring the community’s support for youth empowerment through education.
