2027: Rivers APC Women Launch Grassroots Mobilisation Drive For Tinubu, Chindah, Other Party Candidates
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, APC women in Rivers State have stepped up grassroots mobilisation efforts, with a renewed focus on voter sensitisation, community engagement and participation in the electoral process.
The latest mobilisation exercise was held under the Tinubu-Shettima 2027 Grassroots Mobilisation and Voter Sensitisation Programme, themed “My PVC, My Power,” bringing together women leaders, party officials, ward and local government coordinators and other stakeholders.
Hon. Precious Alechi Iyeuwa, who represented the Director of Women Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr. Betta Edu, at the programme, urged eligible women to ensure they register as voters, obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and take part responsibly in the 2027 elections.
She said mobilisation must reach every level of the state, with particular attention to communities and polling units, while encouraging APC women to engage directly with residents and communicate the Renewed Hope administration’s achievements and vision.

Iyeuwa also called on the women to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, as well as the APC governorship candidate in Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Ogundu Kingsley Chindah, his running mate, Hon. Major Jack, and the party’s candidates for the National Assembly and State House of Assembly.
She emphasised that women have an important role in connecting political programmes with the concerns of families and communities, urging participants to promote peaceful, informed and responsible participation throughout the electoral process.
The event had Rivers State APC Chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, DSSRS, as chief host, with the Executive Chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Council, Hon. Solomon Abuba Ochoma, serving as host.
Speaking to the gathering, Okocha highlighted the importance of women’s involvement in community-level political organisation, stressing that effective participation by women can strengthen the connection between political parties, families and local communities.
Also contributing to the discussions, Rt. Hon. Prince Chibudom Nwunche, Chairman of the Board of the South-South Development Commission and former Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, urged Nigerians to maintain the progress he attributed to the current administration.
Nwunche said the Renewed Hope Agenda was being felt across the country and encouraged the women to take information about the administration’s achievements and programmes to their families and communities. He also pledged his continued support for Rivers women as they extend the mobilisation effort to the grassroots.
Iyeuwa acknowledged the support of Chief Tony Okocha and other stakeholders involved in the initiative, while commending Hon. Solomon Abuba Ochoma for hosting the programme.
The gathering also featured the keynote speaker, Dr. Mrs. Sylvia Tonye Cole; Lady Esther Victor Giadom, wife of the APC National Vice Chairman, South-South; Lady Ogechi Tony Okocha, wife of the Rivers State APC Chairman; and former NNPC Board member, Constance Marshall Harry.
With APC women leaders, party executives and coordinators from wards and local government areas participating, the programme formed part of the party’s wider grassroots mobilisation activities in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
