INDEPENDENCE DAY: Hon. Segun Shitta Celebrates Nigeria At 62

In his celebration message to the people of his constituency and Sagamu in general, the OGHA Deputy Leader and Lawmaker Representing the good people of Sagamu, Hon. Abdul Bashir Oladunjoye, a.k.a Segun Shitta, describe Nigeria’s independence in 1960 which was championed by the likes of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dr Nnamdi Azikwe, Tafawa Balewa and the rest as a blessing to us all.

He further stated that, for 1st of October 1960 to happen, all hands were on deck. South, East, West, North, all came together to celebrate freedom. Today should not only serve as the day British handed over the reins of power to Nigerians, but also unified Nigerians from all ethnic groups, religions and regions.

Today, despite the challenges we face, most Nigerians still maintain the spirit of 1st October. That positive outlook and determination to make Nigeria a peaceful and prosperous nation. It is due to this collective attitude that Nigeria doggedly continues to remain a united and indivisible nation.

He also seize the opportunity of this year’s independence anniversary to implore Nigerians and most importantly the good people of Sagamu to shun violence and embrace peace as 2023 electioneering kick-starts and also pray that may God spare our lives before, during and after the election.

God Bless Sagamu
God bless Ogun State
God bless Federal Republic of Nigeria

Happy 62nd Independence Day!
