Former Governor and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, marked his 60th birthday by addressing significant issues surrounding Nigeria’s economy. Amaechi, who recently returned to the political scene after nearly a three-year hiatus, highlighted that despite being in the same political party, he did not support President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 elections, noting, “I did not vote nor work for Tinubu.” He recounted an incident in Germany where his passport was seized, citing it as an example of the shame Nigerians endure abroad.

While commenting on the political landscape, Amaechi expressed his belief that the opposition could potentially remove the current leadership. “With the help of the opposition, Tinubu can be removed from office in the 2027 presidential election,” he declared. He referred to past protests against rising fuel prices, criticizing the citizenry for their failure to respond adequately to government policies that adversely affect their livelihoods.
