Dele Momodu Exits PDP Amid Concerns Of Anti-Democratic Forces, Joins ADC Coalition

Dele Momodu, the publisher of Ovation Magazine, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and has aligned himself with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a letter dated July 17, 2025, addressed to the Chairman of PDP Ward 4 in Ihievbe, Owan East Local Government Area, Edo State, Momodu articulated his reasons for leaving the party. He expressed grave concern over what he termed the “hijack” of the PDP by “anti-democratic forces.”
Momodu emphasized his intent to become part of an opposition coalition under the ADC banner, aiming to challenge President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 elections.
In his resignation letter, he stated, “I wish to inform you of my decision to resign from our political party, PDP, with immediate effect. My reason is simple and straightforward: our party has been unarguably hijacked by anti-democratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight. It is, therefore, honourable to abandon the carcass of the party to them while the majority of us earnestly sign up with the new coalition party known as the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”

Earlier in July, Momodu accused Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), of being a mole within the PDP, alleging that he worked in favor of the APC during the 2023 presidential election despite his affiliation with the PDP.
“Without any doubt, people are leaving the carcass of PDP to Wike and his cronies, that’s all. It was a prophecy foretold,” Momodu remarked during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program. He further accused the APC of infiltrating opposition parties to avoid competition in the upcoming election cycle.
“The ruling party does not want competition in 2027,” he asserted. “What they are doing now is to send their moles into any major formidable party.”
Additionally, Momodu criticized the Tinubu administration, claiming it has exacerbated Nigeria’s difficulties compared to the previous Buhari administration. He questioned the state of the nation, asking, “Is this the Nigeria of your dreams? Are you better today than you were two years ago?” He lamented that the current situation is “much worse” than what was left behind by Buhari.
