By Oludare Joshua

Popular artist Portable was arraigned today January 13, 2026, before the Ogun State High Court sitting in Onipanu, Ota, facing several serious charges including assault, felony occasioning harm, and resisting arrest.
The charges stem from an incident involving the alleged attack on one of his wives, Ashabi, along with accusations of obstructing a female police inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was performing her official duties. Reports indicate that Portable also assaulted other individuals at his Odogwu bar on New Year’s Day.
Although Ashabi was not present in court, her two siblings attended the proceedings as witnesses. Portable appeared visibly emotional, breaking down in tears during the hearing.
His legal counsel requested bail, but the presiding judge denied the application, citing the absence of the assaulted police officer from court. The judge emphasized the importance of hearing from Inspector Olayemi before making a decision on the bail request.
As a result, Portable has been remanded in custody until January 19, 2026, when his bail application will be reconsidered. The case has garnered significant public interest, reflecting concerns about safety and justice in the community.
