Otunba Nurudeen Aina Alowonle Commends Ogun Government On Resumption Of Abandoned Simawa-High Court Road Project

Residents and community leaders in Simawa area of Sagamu Local Government have commended the Ogun State Government under Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Olamilekan Solomon (Yayi), representing Ogun West Senatorial District, for resuming construction on the critical Simawa-High Court road.
The commendation was led by Otunba Nurudeen Alowonle, a prominent APC chieftain in the area, who addressed journalists on behalf of the community. He recounted the project’s history, noting that it was initially commenced by Senator Gbenga Daniel of Ogun East Senatorial District but was abruptly abandoned after only a minimal stretch was completed.
”We are profoundly grateful to our responsive Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and our dedicated Senator, Olamilekan Solomon Yayi, for heeding our calls,” Otunba Alowonle stated. “This road is a vital artery for our community, providing access to the High Court and major markets. For years, we watched in dismay as the project initiated by Senator Daniel stalled after approximately 10 meters. The contrast in commitment is evident, and we applaud this administration for prioritizing our welfare and infrastructure development.”
The sentiment was echoed by prominent figures from local trading centers. Mrs. Bukola Adebayo, a leading trader from the Ewu-oloja and Simawa market axis, emphasized the project’s economic significance.
”As someone whose livelihood depends on transporting goods and ensuring customer access to the market, this road completion is an answered prayer,” Mrs. Adebayo said. “The previous poor condition was an enormous burden. We thank Governor Abiodun and Senator Yayi for this intervention. It demonstrates their understanding of the needs of ordinary citizens and the importance of commerce in Simawa.”
Similarly, Mrs. Yetunde Ajiboso, another leader within the Simawa Market Association, praised the initiative for its social and safety benefits.
”Beyond commerce, this road affects daily life—access to the court, schools, and residential areas. The previous abandonment created safety hazards and inconvenienced everyone,” Mrs. Ajiboso noted. “We were disappointed when work ceased earlier, but now we are filled with relief and appreciation. This collaborative effort between the state government and our senator exemplifies genuine representation.”
The Simawa High Court road project has emerged as a focal point of political distinction, with current efforts by the Abiodun-Yayi partnership being contrasted against the earlier abandonment. Community leaders confirm that construction has resumed in earnest, bringing renewed hope for improved connectivity and enhanced economic activity in the area.
