Breaking News: Nigerians Faces Severe Cooking Gas Shortage As Prices Reach ₦2,000 Per KG

Some States in Nigeria is currently experiencing a significant cooking gas shortage, resulting in skyrocketing prices that have left residents and food vendors in turmoil. The sudden surge in costs is severely impacting household budgets and the operations of small businesses.
A recent market survey conducted by Lagos Reporters revealed that the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has surged to between ₦1,900 and ₦2,000 per kilogram, a dramatic increase from the average of ₦1,200 just weeks ago.
This scarcity has been linked to supply chain disruptions, prompting many families to resort to alternatives such as charcoal and kerosene for cooking. Vendors in regions including Surulere, Ikeja, and Ajah reported that customers are now purchasing gas in smaller quantities or abandoning it altogether due to the high prices.
In response to the crisis, residents are calling on the Federal Government to take immediate action to stabilize the market. They warn that the ongoing rise in energy costs could exacerbate the already challenging cost of living for many.
