Accord Party Clarifies Misleading Claims Regarding Governorship Candidacy

The Accord Party wishes to address and clarify recent false claims circulating in the public domain, which assert that Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has been nominated by the party as its candidate for the upcoming 2026 Osun State Governorship Election. We categorically state that these allegations are entirely untrue, misleading, and designed to misinform the public.
It is crucial to assert that while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) may have received various nomination documents, it has also confirmed the legitimate submission of Mr. Kolawole Clement Bamigbola as the Accord Party’s duly nominated candidate. This submission included all required statutory documents, such as EC9, EC13B, as well as the report from a validly conducted primary election at INEC’s Abuja headquarters. Therefore, Mr. Kolawole Clement Bamigbola is the officially recognized gubernatorial candidate of the Accord Party for the 2026 election.
Furthermore, it is essential to highlight that matters concerning the national leadership of the Accord Party are currently under judicial review. The faction led by Prof. Chris Imumolen has undertaken all necessary legal and procedural measures to safeguard the party’s integrity against any hijacking or unauthorized interference while upholding its internal democratic processes until the court delivers its final verdict.
The recent misleading publication appears to be a deliberate attempt to cast doubt on the credibility of the Accord Party’s candidate and to create the false impression that there is no viable candidate representing the party. This narrative is unfounded and should be entirely dismissed.
We strongly encourage the public, media, and all stakeholders to disregard any speculative reports or fabricated narratives aimed at undermining the Accord Party and its legitimate candidate. There is no legal or factual basis for the claims currently being disseminated.
