Breaking News: Nigeria Police Force Halts Enforcement Of Tinted Glass Permit Following Court Order

In a recent development, the Nigeria Police Force has announced the suspension of the vehicle tinted glass permit enforcement. This decision came after a court order was issued to halt the exercise. The spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed this during an interview on AIT on Wednesday.
According to Adeh, the police received the court order and have decided to comply with it. As a result, the enforcement of the tinted permit will remain on hold until the court gives its final verdict. She also stated that the police are not against the court’s decision and will patiently wait for the outcome of the legal process.
The introduction of the tinted glass permit sparked public concerns about its purpose and necessity. However, Adeh clarified that the policy was put in place for security reasons. She explained that criminals were using vehicles with darkened windows to carry out their unlawful activities, making it difficult for law enforcement to identify suspects. Addressing claims that the policy was implemented for financial gain, Adeh debunked them by stating that all payments related to tinted permits are made directly into the Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account (TSA), not the police. This further highlights the motive behind the policy as a security measure rather than a revenue-generating scheme.
