‎Northern Youth Group Pledges ₦200 Million For Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Bid, Endorses Second Term

‎The Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders Forum (NNYLF) has pledged ₦200 million toward the purchase of All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination forms for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027.

‎The forum made the financial commitment during a high-level youth leadership and stakeholders’ engagement in Maitama, Abuja, on Monday, January 26, 2026, where it also formally endorsed the president for a second term in office.

‎In a communiqué issued at the event by National Leader Murtala Garba-Gamji and Director of Operations Dr. John Agbana, NNYLF stated that the endorsement was driven by the need for policy continuity, reform consolidation, and long-term national development.

‎The forum called on young Nigerians to embrace constructive participation in nation-building and community leadership, while urging development partners and stakeholders to collaborate with credible youth-led platforms to scale impact-driven programmes across northern Nigeria.

‎”The Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders Forum convened a high-level youth leadership and stakeholders’ engagement on Monday, January 26, 2026, in Maitama, Abuja, bringing together youth leaders, professionals, grassroots mobilizers, and political stakeholders from across Northern Nigeria,” the communiqué read.

‎”The engagement was convened to review the direction of national development under the Renewed Hope Agenda, strengthen youth participation in governance, and formally endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, alongside the launch of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors initiative.”

‎The forum unanimously resolved to formally endorse President Tinubu for a second term “in the interest of policy continuity, reform consolidation, and long-term national development,” committing to “coordinated, peaceful, and issue-based youth mobilisation across Northern Nigeria in support of democratic participation, national unity, and responsible civic engagement.”

‎While presenting a symbolic cheque of ₦200 million to the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Garba-Gamji emphasized that the gesture demonstrated northern youths’ commitment to the president’s re-election.

‎”We have made this pledge to show that northern youth leaders have decided to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with ₦200 million under the custody of our Board of Trustees and other leaders. When the forms become available for purchase, we will acquire them for Mr. President for his second term, because we believe in the unity of Nigeria,” he stated.

‎Garba-Gamji referenced the political understanding between the late President Muhammadu Buhari and President Tinubu, asserting that “Southern Nigeria should complete its eight years, then Northern Nigeria will come in.”

‎”We are with Bola Ahmed Tinubu; we believe in what he is doing in terms of security, agriculture, and infrastructure. I have been to Sokoto, and we have seen what he is doing from Sokoto to Badagry. We have seen the projects from Bauchi to Taraba, Benue, Kaduna Road, and Kano. These achievements inspired us to demonstrate this solidarity. The faces you see are not hired or chartered—we are realists, and we believe Tinubu will have the highest vote in northern Nigeria,” he added.

‎In his remarks, Director General of TSG Dr. Umar Tanko-Yakasai welcomed all support groups aligned with the umbrella body, stating that they are channeling resources to support President Tinubu’s second-term bid.

‎He emphasized the reciprocal nature of political support between Nigeria’s regions, noting that the South had backed northern leadership for eight years under President Buhari.

‎”Most important is the commitment by our northern young persons that when the North gives its word, it must respect its word. Our word is our bond. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu supported northern candidate Muhammadu Buhari in 2015—after serving for three terms, Buhari couldn’t have won without Tinubu’s support. He won and completed his tenure,” Yakasai said.

‎”Northern Nigeria was satisfied because in 2019, I didn’t see any credible person from the South who challenged President Buhari. I believe the South supported the North for eight good years. It is now the North’s turn to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the South to complete their eight years of administration before considering any other interest,” he concluded.
