‎Ijebu-Ode Local Government Halts Maruwa Operations To Address Safety Concerns

The Executive Chairman of jebu-Ode Local, Hon. Oluwadamilare Alebiosu has announced an immediate suspension of all tricycle operations, commonly referred to as Maruwa, across all garages within its jurisdiction. This decision comes in response to alarming reports of disorderly conduct, traffic congestion, and breaches of public safety regulations.

‎In a statement signed today, October 20, 2025, Hon. Oluwadamilare Alebiosu, the Executive Chairman, emphasized the urgent need to restore public order and enhance traffic control in commercial transport. He indicated that the suspension will remain in effect until a comprehensive review is completed, aimed at improving the organization and safety of Maruwa operations.

‎Key Directives:

‎- All Maruwa activities within local garages are suspended indefinitely.

‎- Compliance is mandated for all relevant unions and garage executives.

‎- Security agencies and the Task Force have been deployed to enforce the suspension.

‎- Violators will face sanctions in accordance with local government laws.

‎While this measure may cause temporary inconvenience for commuters, it is anticipated to significantly enhance safety and operational coordination within the community.
