‎“Ingratitude, Disloyalty And Misuse Of Opportunity” — FAECO Media Team Fires Back At Hon. Elegbeji, Urges Acceptance Of APC Primary Outcome

By Oludare Joshua

The Media Team of Hon. Funmilayo Efuwape (FAECO), the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the House of Representatives seat representing Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency in the 2027 General Elections, has strongly rebutted recent comments credited to the incumbent federal lawmaker, Hon. Dr. Princess Adesola Ayoola Elegbeji, on June 10th, 2026, over the outcome of the APC primary election.

‎In a statement issued by the Director of the FAECO Media Team, Hon. Kazeem Sonuga (Omo Ebute), the team described the lawmaker’s remarks questioning the legitimacy of the primary process as unfortunate, misleading, and capable of creating unnecessary tension within the party.

‎According to the statement, although the media team would ordinarily have ignored the allegations, it became necessary to respond in order to protect the integrity of the APC, preserve party unity, and prevent the spread of misinformation among party members and residents of Remo Federal Constituency.

‎APC Primary Followed Due Process

‎The media team maintained that the APC primary election conducted on May 16, 2026, was carried out in line with the constitution, guidelines, and directives of the party.

‎They stated that at the conclusion of the exercise, Hon. Funmilayo Efuwape emerged victorious with an overwhelming 22,452 votes, while Hon. Princess Adesola Ayoola Elegbeji secured 16 votes, a result which they said reflected the clear preference of APC members and stakeholders across the constituency.

‎”The outcome of the primary election was not a product of manipulation or imposition but a reflection of the democratic will of party members who participated in the exercise,” the statement noted.

‎The team further observed that Hon. Elegbeji and members of her political structure were reportedly absent from the primary election process, making it difficult to understand why an exercise in which they did not actively participate is now being challenged.

‎”Democracy thrives on participation, respect for laid-down procedures, and acceptance of outcomes. It is surprising that someone who was absent from the process now seeks to question its legitimacy,” the statement added.

‎FAECO Demonstrated Loyalty During Bye-Election

‎Drawing attention to events surrounding the 2026 Remo Federal Constituency Bye-Election, the media team recalled that Hon. Funmilayo Efuwape was among the aspirants who sought the APC ticket before Hon. Elegbeji eventually emerged as the party’s consensus candidate.

‎According to the statement, at that time, the leadership of the APC, with the support of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, directed all aspirants to unite behind Hon. Elegbeji’s candidacy in the interest of party cohesion and electoral success.

‎The team emphasized that Hon. Efuwape accepted the decision without protest, publicly congratulated Hon. Elegbeji, mobilized her supporters across the constituency, actively participated in campaigns, and worked tirelessly to ensure the APC secured victory at the polls.

‎”Hon. Funmilayo Efuwape demonstrated uncommon loyalty, discipline, and commitment to party supremacy. She placed the interests of the APC above personal ambition and stood firmly behind the party’s decision,” the statement said.

‎Questions Over Consistency and Party Loyalty

‎The media team questioned why the same party structures, consultation mechanisms, and democratic processes that facilitated Hon. Elegbeji’s emergence in 2026 are now being criticized when they have produced a different candidate.

‎According to the statement, what was accepted as legitimate and democratic yesterday should not suddenly become unacceptable simply because the outcome favors another aspirant.

‎The team further described Hon. Elegbeji’s public reaction as an act of ingratitude toward the party leadership and Governor Dapo Abiodun, whom they credited for providing the opportunity that enabled her emergence during the bye-election.

‎”While every party member has the right to personal opinions and political aspirations, respect for party decisions remains fundamental to the growth and stability of any political organization,” the statement noted.

‎Call for Unity and Focus on Service

‎The FAECO Media Team urged the incumbent lawmaker to devote her remaining period in office to advancing the interests of the people of Remo Federal Constituency rather than engaging in narratives capable of undermining the efforts of party leaders and stakeholders.

‎The statement described the social media comments attributed to Hon. Elegbeji as misleading and capable of causing confusion among party faithful, urging members of the public to disregard what it termed unfounded claims.

‎The team stressed that the APC leadership, executives, elders, and stakeholders had collectively spoken through the established structures of the party and that their decision reflected extensive consultations aimed at sustaining APC’s dominance and electoral success in the constituency.

‎APC Remains Guided by Democratic Principles

‎Reaffirming confidence in the leadership of the APC, the statement maintained that the party remains a disciplined and democratic institution governed by rules, due process, and respect for collective decisions.

‎The media team expressed optimism that the party leadership would continue to uphold these principles as preparations intensify for the 2027 General Elections.

‎FAECO Reaffirms Commitment to Quality Representation

‎The statement concluded by calling on APC members, supporters, and residents of Ikenne, Sagamu, and Remo North Federal Constituency to disregard attempts to cast doubt on Hon. Funmilayo Efuwape’s emergence as the APC candidate.

‎It reaffirmed that Hon. Efuwape remains committed to promoting unity, inclusive leadership, grassroots development, and effective representation that prioritizes the welfare and aspirations of the people.

‎”As the 2027 General Elections draw closer, all progressives must remain united, focused, and committed to the collective success of the APC. The future of Remo Federal Constituency is brighter when we embrace democratic outcomes, respect party decisions, and place the interests of the people above personal ambitions,” the statement concluded.
