By Basith Oladipupo

The peaceful festivities of the annual New Yam festival in Idogun community, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, took a violent turn on Friday when a group of irate youths reportedly assaulted the town’s monarch, Oba Moses Bakare, his wife, and his son, Victor.
According to witnesses, the incident left the monarch with injuries, while his wife was subjected to physical assault and stripped half-naked. The cause of the attack is yet to be determined, but sources reveal that there has been longstanding tension between some residents and the monarch.
”The angry youths showed no mercy towards the monarch and his family. We are not sure of the reason behind it, but there have been conflicts between some residents and the Oba,” shared an anonymous resident for fear of retaliation.
If not for the prompt intervention of security personnel, the situation could have escalated into a full-blown crisis in the community.
Confirming the disturbing incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, assured that the case is being thoroughly investigated.
”We are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that justice is served in this matter,” stated Ayanlade.
As the community struggles to recover from this shocking event, it is essential for all parties involved to seek peaceful resolution and strive for unity to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
