‎Ogun APC Exposes Plot By Disgruntled Politicians To Undermine Dapo Abiodun’s Government

‎The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has raised concerns over a coordinated effort by disgruntled politicians aimed at discrediting the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun. According to a statement issued by the party’s Director of Publicity, Nuberu Olufemi, these politicians are allegedly hiring mercenaries from outside the state to traverse the region, capturing footage of poorly maintained roads to use as leverage against the government.

‎The APC emphasized that this campaign seeks to distort public perception of a governor who has successfully constructed over 1,500 roads and initiated significant projects, including the Atan-Lusada-Agbara road, Mojoda-Epe road, and Sagamu Interchange-Abeokuta road, all while continuing to launch new developments. The party firmly stated that it is unrealistic to expect any government to repair every road within a single term, and it has highlighted the Abiodun administration’s impressive achievements in public infrastructure.

‎Furthermore, the APC criticized the very politicians who left a legacy of neglected roads during their tenures, pointing out their hypocrisy in blaming the current administration for the shortcomings they themselves created. Olufemi remarked, “It is easy to cast stones from afar when you have presided over a state’s underdevelopment. These disgruntled politicians, aware that their political relevance is fading, have resorted to hiring outside mercenaries who masquerade as objective observers to disparage the Ogun State government. They conveniently ignore the numerous road projects that have been completed.”

‎He added, “This deceptive narrative is not borne from genuine concern but stems from a malicious intent to undermine the governance of Ogun State. It is illogical to label a governor ‘ineffective’ based solely on a few unfinished projects while ignoring the significant achievements that outweigh them. Genuine analysts focus on a governor’s overall performance, rather than indulging in partisan theatrics.”

‎Olufemi challenged critics to reflect on why the Abiodun administration has had to tackle the extensive backlog of roads left by previous administrations if those administrations had performed satisfactorily. He condemned these detractors for attempting to derive political gain from their negligence and referenced past efforts of foreign-based critics who tried unsuccessfully to deride Abiodun’s governance.

‎The APC emphasized the positive achievements under Governor Abiodun, noting your government’s effectiveness in attracting foreign investments, improving Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), and maintaining peace and security within the state. “Ogun State is now recognized for its groundbreaking projects, such as a state-of-the-art airport and the largest cement factory in West Africa. Governance is about tangible results, not social media campaigns questioning the competence of a successful administration,” Olufemi stated.

‎He concluded by urging the citizens of Ogun to remain vigilant against divisive political rhetoric and to focus on the successes fostered by the Abiodun administration. “There is still work to be done, but challenges should be met with constructive criticism rather than baseless accusations. We challenge these critics to substantiate their claims. Ultimately, their rhetoric only undermines their credibility,” he asserted.
