Ogun Police Deploy School Protection Squad To Strengthen Security As Schools Resume
The Ogun State Police Command has deployed its School Protection Squad across the state to strengthen security around educational institutions as schools resume academic activities.
The deployment, according to the Command, is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of pupils, students, teachers, other school personnel and educational infrastructure across Ogun State.
The initiative is also in line with the strategic policing agenda of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, which places strong emphasis on proactive, preventive and community-oriented policing.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement, explaining that the School Protection Squad has been deployed to schools that have already resumed, while institutions scheduled to reopen at later dates will also be brought under the security arrangement.
According to her, the officers will not only provide security around schools but will also gather actionable intelligence, monitor activities within and around educational environments, and ensure prompt responses to emerging security threats.
As part of efforts to further strengthen the initiative, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, recently received an executive delegation of the Police Community Relations Committee Safe School Club at the Command Headquarters in Abeokuta.
The delegation was led by the State Chairman of the PCRC Safe School Club, Comrade Abdullahi Babatunde Lawal.

The meeting focused on deepening collaboration between the police, school authorities, parents, students and other relevant community stakeholders to promote the early identification, reporting and prevention of security threats in and around schools.
CP Ojajuni commended the initiative and reaffirmed the commitment of the Ogun State Police Command to working closely with the PCRC and other stakeholders in ensuring that schools across the state remain safe and secure.
He also charged members of the School Protection Squad to remain vigilant, maintain close contact with school communities and respond promptly to credible security information.
The Commissioner of Police further stressed that the Command would continue to focus on anticipating possible threats, preventing security incidents and providing swift protective intervention whenever necessary.
He urged school proprietors, administrators, teachers, parents, students and members of the public to remain alert and promptly report suspicious persons, vehicles, movements or activities around schools.
The Command specifically encouraged residents to embrace the principle of “See Something, Say Something,” stressing that early reporting and timely intervention could play a critical role in preventing security incidents.

The Police Command assured residents that the School Protection Squad, in collaboration with the PCRC and other relevant stakeholders, remains fully prepared to protect schools, prevent potential threats and respond swiftly to emergencies across Ogun State.
