The Ogun State Government has officially established a State Burial Committee to oversee the arrangements for the late Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebu Land, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona GCON, who passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, and was laid to rest the following day.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, the committee is tasked with organizing and coordinating all official activities to ensure that the late monarch receives a fitting burial that honors his legacy and significant contributions to Ogun State and Nigeria.

5. Oba Lawrence Adebajo – Orimolusi of Ijebu Igbo, representative of the Ijebu Traditional Council – Member

7. Chief Oluwaranti Lekan-Osifeso – Representative of the Council of Chiefs – Member

At its inaugural meeting on Thursday, July 17, 2025, the committee emphasized its commitment to working closely with the late monarch’s family and other stakeholders to ensure a successful and dignified series of events in remembrance of the departed king. The anticipated attendance includes President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, among other dignitaries.
Family members present at the inaugural meeting included Prince Ademola Adetona, Prince Adejuwo Adetona, Princess Aderonke Adetona, Prince Adeniyi Adetona, Prince Adetoun Daramola, and Special Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Lanre Daramola.
