Police SUV Stolen From Nigeria’s Force Headquarters In Abuja: Authorities Initiate Nationwide Manhunt

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the theft of one of its official vehicles, a Toyota Buffalo Land Cruiser, from the premises of the Force Headquarters in Abuja. This troubling incident raises serious security questions within the nation’s police institution.
The vehicle, identified by chassis number JTELU71JX0B027126 and registration number NPF 5594 D, disappeared from the designated parking area on July 28, 2025. It was part of the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters, also known as Louis Edet House.
An internal communication from the Commissioner of Police (DFA, Katsina Command) relayed critical details from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID). The message indicated, “Grateful be informed that Sig. No. CR:3000/FDPS/FHQS/Abj/Vol.2/189 DTO: 271231/08/2025 received from Nigpol Dops Abuja that a police official’s vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser, was involved in an accident. JTELU71JX0B027126, Rec No. NPF 5594 D, attached to Department of Operations FHQ, Abuja was declared missing/stolen or removed from where parked on 28/07/2025 from parking lot of FHQ, Louis Edet House Abuja.”
Police authorities have assured that this matter is under active investigation and have instructed all area commands, divisional police officers, and police formations across the country to be vigilant for the missing vehicle. Security operatives have been urged to prioritize the case and report any information that may lead to its recovery.
This incident prompts a concerning reflection on the security measures within the police force as it continues to confront challenges in upholding law and order.
