‎Significant Relief For Nigerians As Dangote Reduces Cooking Gas Prices To ₦760/kg

‎In a transformative move for Nigeria’s domestic energy market, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a substantial reduction in the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), commonly referred to as cooking gas. The new ex-depot price is now set at ₦760 per kilogram, a decrease from ₦810 just a week ago.

‎This price cut marks the refinery’s second significant reduction in less than a month, further establishing Dangote as a key player in enhancing affordability within the gas sector. Industry observers believe this change will offer crucial relief to millions of households grappling with rising living costs and persistent inflation.

‎When compared to prices from other major suppliers, Dangote’s new rate is notably more competitive. For instance, Matrix and Ardova depots are currently selling LPG at ₦920 per kilogram, while A.Y.M. Shafa and NIPCO are priced at ₦910 per kilogram. Stockgap Depot, one of the largest in the market, is charging as much as ₦950 per kilogram. This creates a price gap of ₦150 to ₦190 per kilogram, showcasing Dangote’s substantial market influence and its role in stabilizing energy prices in Nigeria.

‎Experts in the petroleum and energy sector view this strategy as a purposeful effort by Dangote to reshape market dynamics and mitigate unwarranted price increases from other suppliers. By offering lower prices for LPG, the refinery appears to be setting a new industry benchmark, which could compel competitors to lower their rates and enhance accessibility for Nigerian consumers.
