President Tinubu Welcomes Over 64,000 Defectors From PDP And ADC To APC, Highlighting Growing National Support For His Renewed Hope Agenda

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, via Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, has welcomed more than 64,000 defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and other political groups in Jigawa State into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Buni articulated that this significant influx reflects a burgeoning public confidence in President Tinubu’s administration and a renewed trust in the APC’s commitment to national unity and sustainable development.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Governor Buni assured the newcomers of their equal rights and privileges within the APC. “From today, you will be treated as full members of our great party. Your courage and faith in the APC’s mission for a better Nigeria are highly commendable,” he declared.
In his remarks, President Tinubu reaffirmed his focus on enhancing national security and driving economic growth through pivotal infrastructure initiatives, specifically the completion of the vital Kano–Maiduguri Highway, which serves as a significant trade route for northern Nigeria.
The President also praised Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi for his “visible and people-centered development” that aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the APC National Chairman, present at the event with members of the National Working Committee, commended Governor Namadi’s leadership and encouraged the defectors to fully embrace their new roles within the party. “The APC belongs to you. Feel at home, work for the party, and let’s move Nigeria forward together,” he urged.
Additionally, Kabiru Ibrahim Masari, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs, called on Jigawa residents to maintain their support for President Tinubu’s reforms aimed at improving lives and expanding opportunities: “Jigawa will continue to benefit from APC-led policies that are designed to build a stronger, more inclusive nation,” he said.
In his welcoming address, Governor Umar Namadi emphasized that the state’s robust partnership with the federal government has yielded significant progress, noting that the new members further solidify the APC’s dominance in Jigawa.
This mass defection represents one of the largest political realignments in recent years, signaling the growing grassroots support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda ahead of future electoral contests.
In related news, TVC previously reported on the impending defection of Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah from the PDP to the APC, an event scheduled for Tuesday, October 14, 2025, in Enugu. Mbah is anticipated to join the ruling party along with various elected officials and party leaders at both national and state levels. Duro Meseko, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, has indicated that preparations for Governor Mbah’s transition are underway.
