REMO HOUSE OF REP 2023: The Most Distinguished Young Philanthropist Called OMG –— Olumide Adebayo

Do you know him, the man called OMG? He is no other person than Honorable Olanrewaju Michael George from Sagamu in Remo Federal Constituency. Honourable Olanrewaju came into politics in my very eyes, l am therefore at a vintage position to x-ray his political trajectory.

In all modesty, OMG met me after I applied to work in one of his establishment situated in Agbowa, Lagos state, l must however be plain and transparent enough to accept and admit the obvious that OMG was the best strategist when it comes to making things happen as a good listener and as a patient player that could milk the lioness.

His candidature for the Federal House of Representative could not be more popular; both men and women, the old and the young of the Constituency were falling upon one another rooting for the man of the moment. Those that did not know him had a reason to support him even in their little or no knowledge of whom OMG is. As at today, l could not remember the name of his opponent in the contest; so popular is the Philanthropist.

Honourable Ọlanrewaju was not coming from performance angle, he was a new entrant with a virgin sheet, he however had a very solid reason behind him that was burning like wild fire. Remo Federal Constituency was made up of Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North, OMG comes from Sagamu.

If OMG was well accepted in Sagamu because of his homestead; what then made him the rave of moment in Ikenne and Remo North that has several wards? His strength stemmed from Ikenne self appraisal; a case of he who comes to equity must come with clean hand.

Few questions stared us in the face: who from Sagamu had ever represented Remo at the Federal House of Representative (Lower House)? Does the individual represent the interest of the masses or just for personal gain and recognition! Has Sagamu ever been proud to boast of such person in the open as their representative? (Answer at readers discretion). But to me, I belief that a man must first remove the log in his eye if he must remove the log in another man’s eye.

In the race of OMG to becoming the next HOR member in the Remo Federal Constituency, he personally scouted for Noble individual who are close to the grassroot across the Constituency which includes Comrade Adefilola Oladapo, Alhaji Olowomonday, Pastor Oludare David, Madam Eniola Martin’s (AAC former Governorship Aspirant) Alhaji Eko, Alhaji Tajudeen, Comrade Aloma Idris, Otunba Tiwalade, Comrade Jide Soyemi, Comrade Anene among others.

You could not have all these oracles and political gladiators in a battlefield and still lose the battle; Honorable Ọlanrewaju Michael George is at the verge of winning as the anointed candidate for House of Representative to represent Remo Federal Constituency.

While l agree that performance is a relative term, in my candid opinion, l did not consider Honourable Ọlanrewaju Michael George as an Awo, still l give it to him as a Politician and as a philanthropist that understands the bolt, nut and watcher of politics; a political strategist that is endowed with every political mix. In my bid to learn from this Olympian, l have asked myself time and time: what are the traits that are making Aare Tayese of Ikenne, Hon. Olanrewaju Michael George thick?

The first thing l discovered in OMG is his ability to understand the source of hardship in the land, putting himself in the shoe of the vulunrables just to know where it pinches and glue himself to it just to serve in his capacity without public funds. A man that never plays beyond the source, a respecter of leaders and honourer of protocol.

Two, in politics where humility is the legal tender; OMG can afford anything. If there is a leader in Remo that took after Peter Obi in humility, the man is Honorable Ọlanrewaju Michael George. “Junior” as l am to him in everything, yes, in everything; l could not remember OMG once addressed me with ” ó”; if not baba Anelka, it would be “é”. His humility is inborn.

Three, Honourable Ọlanrewaju Michael George is a cheerful giver, a master comforter who none with tears in his or her eyes leaves with his or her wet lids. His slogan is “ìfésowápò fún ìdàgbàsókè” meaning (we can only grow when we are United in love) and to put the love into practice, the space among his fingers from where money slips into hands of the needy. A wealth sharer, dealer in riches, supplier of better life. A round of applause to the man that not only caters for his pot but for the pot of everyone.

Honourable Ọlanrewaju Michael George is also a friend keeper, no wonder his relationship with the general public, most especially the vulunrables; the elites; the political bulkheads and stiffner across Remo remain ever fresh and evergreen till date

Do you still wonder then why notable individuals across Remo are withdrawing from their various positions in the ruling party and dropping their membership to join their good friend in the Labour Party? Honorable Ọlanrewaju Michael George is the flag bearer of House of Representative under the platform of Labour Party in the forthcoming election (2023). We are talking here of a master strategist, Honourable Ọlanrewaju Michael George whose love is without a frontier.
