‎Remo Youth Association (RYA) Congratulates Governor Abiodun @ 66, Advocates Ijebu-Remo State Creation, Enhanced Security, And Expanded Youth Development

The Remo Youth Association (RYA), the apex youth body in Remo Land, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, on the occasion of his 66th birthday, while also calling for the creation of Ijebu-Remo State, strengthened security architecture across the Remo axis, and increased investments in youth development initiatives.

‎In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Association, Muyiwa Osularu Eleda, the youth body described the Governor’s birthday as a remarkable milestone that reflects decades of dedicated service, visionary leadership, and commitment to the growth and development of Ogun State. The Association expressed gratitude to God for preserving the Governor’s life and commended his administration for its developmental strides across critical sectors of the state economy.

‎While celebrating the Governor’s achievements, the Association passionately appealed for the realization of the long-standing aspiration for the creation of Ijebu-Remo State. According to the Association, the demand remains a historic and legitimate aspiration of the people, capable of bringing governance closer to the grassroots, accelerating infrastructural development, and unlocking greater economic opportunities across the region. RYA noted that Governor Abiodun possesses the political influence, leadership capacity, and statesmanship required to champion the cause, adding that the successful advancement of the state creation agenda would further cement his legacy in the history of Remo and Ijebu Land.

‎The Association also raised concerns over emerging security challenges in parts of the Remo axis, particularly around the Gateway ICT Polytechnic–Saapade corridor and surrounding communities. It observed that reports of sporadic attacks, suspicious activities, and inadequate security presence have continued to generate apprehension among students, residents, farmers, and business owners. According to the Association, the protection of lives and property remains fundamental to sustainable development and economic prosperity.

‎To address these concerns, RYA called for the immediate establishment of a Police Post or Military Checkpoint along the Gateway ICT Polytechnic–Saapade axis, the implementation of a coordinated territorial surveillance framework covering strategic entry and exit points within Remo communities, and the full activation of the Amotekun Corps to work in synergy with local vigilantes and community security structures. The Association further advocated for stronger collaboration among security agencies, Community Development Associations (CDAs), Baales, Olorituns, and traditional institutions to enhance intelligence gathering and rapid emergency response mechanisms.

‎The youth body emphasized that the security of the Remo axis has become even more critical with the commencement of full operations at the Gateway International Airport. It noted that a secure environment remains a major attraction for investors and will significantly boost commerce, agriculture, tourism, and employment opportunities within the region. RYA also commended Governor Abiodun for his commitment to the realization of the airport project, describing it as one of the most transformative legacy projects of his administration and a symbol of hope for the younger generation.

‎In addition, the Association acknowledged the Governor’s efforts in youth and women empowerment through programmes such as SIG (Oko’wo Dapo), technological innovations, and infrastructural development projects. However, it urged the government to further expand opportunities for young people through the establishment of Digital Skills and Coding Centres across all local government areas, the introduction of a comprehensive Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurship Scheme, the creation of a Creative Industry Fund for emerging talents and entrepreneurs, and the establishment of a structured Youth Security Vanguard to complement existing security initiatives.

‎The Association equally appreciated the Governor’s consistent support for International Youth Day celebrations over the past two years and expressed optimism about continued collaboration ahead of the 2026 edition. According to RYA, the theme, “Youth Advancing Multilateral Cooperation through Technology and Partnerships,” aligns with the administration’s commitment to innovation, digital transformation, and inclusive development.

‎Reaffirming its commitment to peace and progress, the Remo Youth Association stated that it remains a solution-driven organization dedicated to constructive engagement with government on issues affecting youth development, security, infrastructure, and governance. The Association stressed that it is prepared to partner with the Ogun State Government by providing credible ideas and practical recommendations that will contribute to sustainable development across the state.
