Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Set To Return To National Assembly After Suspension

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, is scheduled to return to the National Assembly later this month after successfully serving her six-month suspension, as confirmed by her lawyer.
In an interview with The PUNCH in Abuja, her attorney, Victor Giwa, revealed that while the senator is currently on vacation in London, she has made arrangements to resume her duties when the Senate reconvenes on September 23. “She’s prepared to return to her role. She’s in London, and everything is in order now that her suspension period has ended. The only step remaining is her resumption,” Giwa stated.
He further noted that the Senate leadership is anticipated to welcome her back without any hindrances. “We have been informed that the Senate leadership is also ready to receive her. Currently, there are no obstacles to her return,” he assured.
Akpoti-Uduaghan faced suspension on March 6 due to allegations of insubordination after she objected to a change in her designated seating during a plenary session. This decision, which followed the recommendations of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, resulted in the loss of her aides, office privileges, and salary.
The senator has maintained that her suspension is linked to her allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio regarding sexual harassment, a claim that the Senate has since dismissed.
