Yaya Onagbesan, has yesterday 7th of June 2022 takes the campaign for the registration of Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to Remo Community, and also Sensitized Remo people on the importance and need to get their PVC across the Three Local Governments that made up the Remo Constituency.

As part of our civic responsibilities to vote and be voted for in the forthcoming general election in Nigeria, it is important to sensitize our people most especially the Youths in our immediate communities to get the “POWER” to vote which is “PERMANENT VOTERS CARD”, the Chairman said in his opening remarks.

The objective of the sensitization is specifically for those that want to register newly, those that want to transfer from one location to another or those with lost PVC. It was clearly stated to the people during the awareness that they can only get this done at the INEC office in all the Three Local Government respectively (Remo North, Ikenne and Sagamu) while all Youth leaders across Remo Land were all present and well represented at the program.

Comr. Bashiru Olusola Aina; President Association of Sabo Sagamu Youth Leaders – ASYL, in his comment appreciated the initiatives of the youth body, while he also used the medium to appeal to the Ogun State Government, all the Remo Obas, Chief’s and other prominent member of Remo Traditional Council, Community Leaders, Stakeholders, Dignitaries and all Politicians, on the issue of insecurity in Remo Community. “I am not even sure one can bodly ascertain his/her return after leaving home in the morning. Everyone need to come together to tackle this insecurity in our land”, Comr. Aina said this, while speaking to newsmen at the program, GENESIS MEDIA HOUSE report.

Comr. Gbenga Odumosu, the immediate Chairman of RYA and the Coordinator of National Youth Council Of Nigeria, Ikenne LG Branch, who also doubled as the Head, Directorate of Youth, of Remo Growth and Development Foundation – RGDF, also in attendance; said “it is important that youth should get it right this time not by joining political parties alone but making sure larger percentage of youths are qualified to participate in the voting process. He clearly stated that such can’t be done without the Permanent voters card.”

We shall as well sensitize our people before the general election on the need to shun election violence and participating in the voting process. YOUR PVC IS YOUR POWER, Hon. (Comr.) Muyiwa Osularu, the RYA General Secretary, said this.

The Chairman of RYA; Comr. Yaya Onagbesan also stated that there is no shortcut to leadership and good representation. “The youths, who are between the ages of 18 and 34, according to INEC’s data accounted for 69.5% of the total registrations completed online since the beginning of the continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise, while he also made it known that, the Independent National Electoral Commission – INEC; disclosed that a total number of 10.2 million fresh applications were received, only 6.5 million applicants completed their registration, out of which the youths accounted for 4.5 million.”

The Chairman further explained that the online registration ended on May 30th, 2022 while physical registration will close June 30th, 2022. It is important our people take this advantage. We are all aware that only those with permanent voters card can vote at the general election.

“Remo North was the first Local Government we went to, and as at the time we were in Sagamu Local Government, we got a call that people already trooped in to the INEC office in Isara Remo, to register for their PVC. This is indeed a positive feedback”, Comr. Onagbesan made this known during the sensitization campaign.

The Chairman also appreciated Alhaji Akeem Ajayi, Mr. Odekoya Seyi Ramon, the media personalities, the RYA executives and all Remo Youths that gave their supports and surrender their usual time for the actualization of this sensitization. “It was indeed a collective efforts, thanks you all”, Comr.
