Youthful Voices Included: RYA To Champion Youth Concerns In Statehood Agitation Discussions

On January 17th, 2025, the Akarigbo Palace in Ita Oba, Sagamu will serve as the venue for a significant gathering aimed at discussing the creation of a new state from what is currently Ogun State, specifically carving out the historical Old Ijebu Province. This meeting, convened on the royal visitation of His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebu Land, seeks to address the ongoing agitation for this fundamental political shift.

The Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Land, HRM Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, has extended an official invitation to the Remo Youth Association (RYA) to ensure active representation of the youth in this critical dialogue.

Comrade Bidemi Solarin, the Chairman of RYA, has expressed profound gratitude for this inclusion, recognizing it as a gesture of goodwill and support for the aspirations of the youth.

In a statement, Comr. Solarin reassured the youth of Remo Land of a strong and effective representation at the meeting. He urged them to remain peaceful and harmonious in their interactions with the Ijebu delegation, emphasizing that the struggle for state creation should not devolve into discord or hostility.

“It is vital that we respect the visitors and approach this sensitive issue with cooperation and unity,” Solarin stated. “Our collective voices and perspectives will be articulated in a manner that honors Remo Land’s interests without resorting to confrontational tactics.

“In a call for inclusivity, the RYA chairman invited youths who are unable to attend the meeting to share their thoughts and support through the RYA email, creating a platform for diverse opinions and collective action. “All hands must be on deck as we navigate this significant step toward achieving our goals,” he noted.

The meeting promises to be a pivotal moment not only for Remo Land but for the broader region. It is hoped that through collaborative dialogue with the Ijebu leadership, a pathway can be forged that honors the aspirations of all communities involved. Comr. Solarin concluded by extending a warm welcome to Oba Sikiru Adetona and all Ijebu dignitaries, assuring them of a peaceful and respectful visit.

As January 17th approaches, the youth of Remo Land are called to stand united, showcasing the spirit of peace and strength as they advocate for their rights and representation in the quest for statehood.
